How it works
- Get the floor plan image. Take a screenshot of the floor plan on the listing, or a photo of the printed brochure. Plans with room measurements printed on them work best.
- Upload it in the planner. AI finds the rooms, walls, doors and windows and reads the printed sizes, such as “13′ 9″ × 21′ 0″”, to work out the scale. Neighbouring rooms share walls, and doors and windows snap to the nearest wall.
- Check it against the original. The result appears next to your image. If the overall width is off, type in the right figure and everything rescales. Fix anything else by dragging walls.
- Add your own furniture. Paste a list like “Couch 200 x 90cm” or “Bed 4'6 x 6'3”, in any units. Each piece appears at its real size, ready to drag into place.
- See what fits. Furniture that overlaps, sticks out of a room or blocks a door’s swing is flagged. Share a read-only link with your partner or moving company when you’re happy.
Are realtor floor plans accurate?
Close, but not always exact. Listing floor plans are usually drawn for marketing from quick measurements, and most carry a note saying they’re for guidance only. Room sizes are often rounded, measured to the widest point, or include bay windows and alcoves. A few centimetres don’t matter for most furniture, but they do for a tight fit, like a wardrobe in an alcove or a couch against a short wall.
Use the imported plan as a quick, mostly right starting point. Before you buy anything to fit a particular gap, measure that gap yourself, then adjust the plan to match. Every wall, door and window stays editable.
What kind of floor plan image works?
- A screenshot or photo of a 2D floor plan, ideally straight on and not blurry.
- Room dimensions printed on the plan, in metric or imperial. The scale comes from these.
- One floor at a time. For a house, import each floor as its own plan.
3D renders, hand sketches without measurements and photos taken at an angle are harder to read. If the import struggles, draw the rooms by hand instead. It only takes a few minutes per room.
What it costs
Drawing a floor plan by hand and placing up to 25 pieces of furniture is free. Floor plan import is part of the Moving Pass: a one-off $10 for 3 months, with no subscription. The pass also unlocks unlimited plans and furniture, plus AI auto-place, which suggests a layout for everything at once. Your uploaded image is used to read the plan and isn’t stored.
Questions
Can I use the floor plan from Zillow, Redfin or Realtor.com?
Yes. A screenshot of the floor plan image from the listing is all you need. Use it for your own planning; the plan belongs to whoever drew it.
What if I don’t have a floor plan?
Measure each room with a tape measure or laser measure and draw the rooms in the planner. That’s free and gives you the most accurate plan.
Does it work for rentals?
Yes. It works for any home you have a floor plan for, whether you’re buying, renting or just rearranging.
