What is movinghouse.app?

movinghouse.app is an online floor planner for people moving home that checks whether the furniture you already own will fit. You draw your new apartment or house to scale (or upload the listing floor plan), paste a list of your furniture with its measurements, and drag each piece into place. Anything that overlaps, sticks out of a room or blocks a door’s swing is flagged straight away.

Unlike room planners built around a furniture catalogue, every piece is your own, at its real size. Planning one home with up to 25 items is free. The optional Moving Pass is a one-off $10 for 3 months, with no subscription, and adds unlimited plans and furniture, AI floor plan import and AI auto-place.

Everything you need to plan the move. Nothing you don’t.

No design skills or software to install. It all runs in your browser, and every piece of furniture is drawn at its real size.

  • Draw your floor plan to scale

Trace rooms from the listing floor plan, then add doors with their swing, windows and fixed units like kitchen worktops and built-in cupboards.

  • Moving Pass

    Upload your floor plan

Got the listing floor plan? Upload a screenshot or photo and AI draws the rooms, doors and windows to scale from the measurements on it. Check it against the original, tweak anything, and you’re ready to add furniture. Included with the Moving Pass. How it works

    AI traces it
  • Paste your furniture list

Any units, mixed freely. Each line becomes a piece you can drag into place.

    couch, 200cm, 100cm
    Desk 140x70cm
    Double bed 4'6" x 6'3"
    Bookcase 80 x 30
  • Drag, rotate and snap

Snap pieces to walls. Overlaps, items poking out of a room and blocked door swings are flagged straight away.

  • Moving Pass

    AI auto-place

Short on ideas? Let AI suggest a layout for everything at once, then accept it, tweak it or throw it away.

  • Share a read-only link

Send the plan to your partner, family or moving company. They can see it on any device without signing up, and you can switch the link off at any time.

From floor plan to “it fits” in three steps

  1. Step 1: Draw your new home

Use the listing floor plan or your own measurements to draw each room to scale, then add the doors and windows. Or upload the realtor’s plan and let AI draw it.

  2. Step 2: Add your furniture

Measure what you own and paste the list in. Every piece appears at its real size, coloured by type.

  3. Step 3: Arrange and check

Drag things into place or let AI suggest a layout. Fix anything that clashes, then share the plan with your moving company or whoever’s helping you move.

Questions, answered

Something else? Email hello@movinghouse.app.

Is movinghouse.app free?

Yes. You can draw a floor plan, add up to 25 pieces of furniture, arrange them by hand, see the fit warnings and share the plan for free. If you’re comparing homes or have more to move, the optional Moving Pass ($10, one-off) adds unlimited floor plans, unlimited furniture, floor plan import and AI auto-place.

How is it different from other room planners?

Most room planners give you a catalogue of standard furniture. movinghouse.app starts from the furniture you actually own: paste a list of names and measurements and every piece appears at its real size. It then warns you about anything that overlaps, sticks out of a room or blocks a door, so you know what fits before moving day.

Do I need to create an account?

You sign in so your plans are saved and you can come back to them. Use Google, Microsoft or a one-time sign-in link sent to your email, so there’s no password to remember. People you share a plan with don’t need an account.

What’s the Moving Pass?

A one-off payment of $10, not a subscription, that gives you unlimited floor plans, unlimited furniture, floor plan import and AI auto-place for 3 months, long enough to cover a typical move. The AI suggests a layout for all of your furniture and you decide whether to keep it. Nothing renews.

Can I upload the listing floor plan?

Yes, with the Moving Pass. Upload an image of the floor plan, such as a screenshot or a photo, and AI traces the rooms, doors and windows to scale using the measurements printed on it. It’s a head start rather than a survey, so check it against the original and adjust anything it got wrong. How floor plan import works.

What happens when my Moving Pass ends?

Your plans and furniture stay in your account, and you can still open, view, edit, share and delete them. To create more plans than the free one, add more than 25 items to a plan, import a floor plan or use AI auto-place again, buy another pass.

Can I use feet and inches?

Yes. Switch between metric and imperial at any time. Measurements in your furniture list can be in millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches or feet, and you can mix them.

Will it tell me if something doesn’t fit?

Yes. Furniture that overlaps another piece, sticks out of a room or blocks a door’s swing is highlighted, so you can spot problems before moving day. To check whether a couch will get through a door or up the stairs, use the free sofa fit calculator.

Can I share my plan with my partner or moving company?

Yes. Create a read-only link and send it to anyone. They can view the plan on any device without signing in, but they can’t change it. You can stop sharing or make a new link at any time.

Is my data private?

Your plans are private to your account unless you create a share link, and anyone with that link can view that plan. We don’t sell your data or show ads, and we only use a cookie to keep you signed in.

Does it work on mobile?

The planner is designed for a desktop or laptop with a mouse or trackpad, because drawing to scale needs a bigger screen. Shared plans can be viewed on any device, including phones.

Know it fits before the van arrives

Draw your new place in a few minutes and stop guessing whether the couch will go through the door.
