How to play
- Take a piece: tap it in the van list, or press N. It appears on the drive.
- Carry it: drag it, or use the arrow keys (or WASD). Heavy things move slower. Walls stop you, and you slide along them.
- Get a closer look: pinch the plan, or use the + and − buttons in its corner (or the + and − keys). Zoomed in, the view follows what you’re carrying; Fit shows the whole house again.
- Turn it: the ↺ ↻ buttons, the mouse wheel, or Q and E. Each tap turns 5°; keep holding to keep turning, and it rests for a moment on every right angle so it’s easy to get it straight. Hold Shift to turn smoothly to any angle.
- On a touch screen: drag the piece to carry it, tap it to turn it, double-tap it to tip it over, and hold your finger on it to put it down.
- Tip it over: the Tip over button, a right-click, a double-tap on the piece, F or Space. It goes from standing up, to on its back, to on its end. Whatever ends up vertical has to fit under the door frames, which are mostly 198 cm high.
- Put it down: Enter or X. It only counts once it’s standing up, wholly inside the right room. Anywhere else, it’s just parked: pick it up again later.
- Finish: the clock stops when everything’s in place. R starts again; Esc pauses in Endless (today’s house keeps the clock running).
Today’s house is the same for everyone, so you can compare times and save yours to the leaderboard. Endless gets harder as you go: bigger houses, narrower doors, more furniture.
Real moves are like this too
The game’s doors are a typical 198 cm (6′ 6″) high and anywhere from 70 to 90 cm wide, the same as real internal doors. That’s why the tricks you need here are the ones removal crews use every day.
Measure the doors before the furniture arrives
Measure each doorway’s clear width with the door open, from the door stop to the frame, and its height. Then measure the big pieces. Five minutes with a tape saves an afternoon of wedging a sofa in a hallway.
Stand the sofa on its end
A long sofa that won’t turn from a narrow hall into a room often goes in stood on its end, then swung round. Check it’s shorter than the door is tall first. Our Will my sofa fit? calculator checks flat, tilted and on-end for your own numbers.
Tall wardrobes go through lying down
Most tall wardrobes are around 200 cm, a little taller than a 198 cm door. Lay them down, on the back or on one side (with a blanket underneath), and carry them through feet first; on its side, a wardrobe is only as wide as it is deep. Same for tall bookcases and fridge-freezers, though a fridge should stand upright for a few hours before you switch it on.
Unload in the right order
Big pieces for the far rooms go in first, before the hallway fills up with boxes. Label every box with its room, and tape a plan by the front door so helpers know where things go.
