Free room & furniture layout planner
Describe your new home and we’ll sketch it to scale (free for your first home), or upload the estate agent’s floor plan, or draw it yourself. Then paste a list of the furniture you already own and arrange it room by room. Find out what fits before moving day, not on it.
movinghouse.app is a free online room planner and furniture layout tool that checks whether the furniture you own will fit, and whether you can still walk round it. Describe your flat or house and it’s sketched to scale for you (the first one is free), or upload the estate agent’s floor plan or draw it yourself. Then paste a list of your furniture with its measurements and drag each piece into place. Overlaps, furniture sticking out of a room and blocked door swings are flagged straight away, and Walkways shades where the way gets narrow or a room is cut off.
It’s made for moving home, and works just as well for rearranging the place you’re in, checking a sofa fits before you buy it or sizing up a home you might buy. Unlike room planners built around a furniture catalogue or 3D decorating, every piece is your own, at its real size, on a 2D plan. Planning one home, with all your furniture, is free, and so is your first plan drawn from a description. The optional Moving Pass is a one-off £10 ($10 in your currency) for 3 months, with no subscription, and adds unlimited plans, AI floor plan import and AI auto-place.
More on each use: the free room planner, the furniture layout planner and the walkway and clearance checker.
No design skills or software to install. It all runs in your browser, and every piece of furniture is drawn at its real size.
Trace rooms from the estate agent’s floor plan, then add doors with their swing, windows and fixed units like kitchen worktops and built-in cupboards.
Got the estate agent’s floor plan? Upload a screenshot or photo and AI draws the rooms, doors and windows to scale from the measurements on it. Check it against the original, tweak anything, and you’re ready to add furniture. Included with the Moving Pass. How it works
No floor plan to hand? Tell us about the place in a sentence or two, with room sizes if you know them, and we’ll draw it to scale with the doors and windows. Then change anything the same way: “make the kitchen longer”, “add a utility room”.
Describe your home →Switch on Walkways and the plan shows how you’ll get around once everything’s in: a route from every outside door into every room, with the floor shaded by how much space your furniture leaves. Squeezes under 90 cm glow amber, under 60 cm red, and you’re told if a room or door is blocked. How it works
Any units, mixed freely. Each line becomes a piece you can drag into place.
Snap pieces to walls. Overlaps, items poking out of a room and blocked door swings are flagged straight away.
Short on ideas? Let AI suggest a layout for everything at once, then accept it, tweak it or throw it away.
Send the plan to your partner, family or removal company. They can see it on any device without signing up, and you can switch the link off at any time. Here’s one of ours:

Put in the sofa and the doorway, and the calculator checks it carried flat, tilted back or stood on its end, and round the corner out of the hallway. Before the van, not halfway up the stairs.
Check my sofaDescribe it, like “3-bed bungalow, big kitchen at the back”, and we’ll sketch it to scale; free for your first home. Or upload the estate agent’s plan, or draw each room yourself.
Measure what you own and paste the list in. Every piece appears at its real size, coloured by type.
Drag things into place or let AI suggest a layout. Fix anything that clashes, then share the plan with your removal company or whoever’s helping you move.
Free covers one home with all its furniture and one plan drawn from a description; the Moving Pass, paid once and never renewed, adds more homes, floor plan import, more descriptions and AI auto-place.

Yes. You can draw a floor plan, add all of your furniture, arrange it by hand, see the fit warnings and share the plan for free, and have one floor plan drawn for you from a written description. If you’re comparing homes, the optional Moving Pass (£10, one-off) adds unlimited floor plans, floor plan import, plans drawn from descriptions and AI auto-place.
Yes. Describe the place in a sentence or two, like “3-bed bungalow, big kitchen at the back, en-suite to the main bedroom”, with room sizes if you know them, and it’s sketched to scale with doors and windows. Your first one is free. You can then change it the same way, or adjust it by hand. See a finished example.
Most room planners give you a catalogue of standard furniture. movinghouse.app starts from the furniture you actually own: paste a list of names and measurements and every piece appears at its real size. It then warns you about anything that overlaps, sticks out of a room or blocks a door, so you know what fits before moving day.
Yes. It’s a room planner as much as a moving planner: draw the room you want to rearrange, add the furniture that’s in it and try layouts until one works. It’s also handy for checking a new sofa or bed fits before you buy it, or for sizing up a home you might buy or rent. More about the free room planner.
Yes, automatically. Switch on Walkways and you’ll see. It draws a route from every outside door into every room and shades the floor by how much space your furniture leaves, so squeezes under 90 cm show amber, under 60 cm red, and a blocked room or door is flagged. It’s free, and it works on shared plans too. How the walkway check works.
No. To know whether furniture fits and leaves room to move, a 2D floor plan drawn to scale is all you need, and it’s much quicker to draw. movinghouse.app sticks to that: real sizes, door swings and walkways, with no 3D renders or furniture catalogue. If you want to see colours and finishes in 3D, a design tool like Planner 5D or Floorplanner suits that better (how they compare).
You sign in so your plans are saved and you can come back to them. Use Google, Microsoft or a one-time sign-in link sent to your email, so there’s no password to remember. People you share a plan with don’t need an account.
A one-off payment of £10, not a subscription, that gives you unlimited floor plans, floor plan import, plans drawn from descriptions and AI auto-place for 3 months, long enough to cover a typical move. The AI suggests a layout for all of your furniture and you decide whether to keep it. Nothing renews.
Yes, with the Moving Pass. Upload an image of the floor plan, such as a screenshot or a photo, and AI traces the rooms, doors and windows to scale using the measurements printed on it. It’s a head start rather than a survey, so check it against the original and adjust anything it got wrong. How floor plan import works.
Your plans and furniture stay in your account, and you can still open, view, edit, share and delete them. To create more plans than the free one, import a floor plan or use AI auto-place again, buy another pass.

Yes. Switch between metric and imperial at any time. Measurements in your furniture list can be in millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches or feet, and you can mix them.
Yes. Furniture that overlaps another piece, sticks out of a room or blocks a door’s swing is highlighted, so you can spot problems before moving day. To check whether a sofa will get through a door or up the stairs, use the free sofa fit calculator.
Yes. Create a read-only link and send it to anyone. They can view the plan on any device without signing in, but they can’t change it. You can stop sharing or make a new link at any time. Here’s what a shared plan looks like.
Your plans are private to your account unless you create a share link, and anyone with that link can view that plan. We don’t sell your data, use ad networks or track you, and our cookies only keep you signed in and, if you allow it, remember which site sent you. Now and then a hand-picked local business sponsors a spot; they never see who you are or your plans.
The planner is designed for a desktop or laptop with a mouse or trackpad, because drawing to scale needs a bigger screen. Shared plans can be viewed on any device, including phones.
Draw your new place in a few minutes and stop guessing whether the sofa will go through the door.
